Johnathan Anderson is one of the biggest fashion designers you’ve never heard of. His J.W Anderson clothing line has garnered critical acclaim since its launch in 2008. The Northern Irish designer first established his line in an elaborate collection of accessories. It quickly gathered attention and enabled the rising label to be scheduled during the 2008 London Fashion Week season. The commercial success of the Anderson collection earned the eyes of the industry and regarded the line as one of London’s most innovative and forward-thinking brands.

The London-based fashion brand continued receiving awards:

2012 · British Fashion Awards for Emerging Talent, Ready-to-Wear

2013 · The New Establishment Award

2014 · Menswear Designer of the Year

2015 · British Fashion Awards for Menswear and Womenswear Designer of the Year

In 2017, Anderson collaborated with Japanese brand Uniqlo, the largest apparel retailer in Asia. Uniqlo has joined the ranks of top fashion brands such as H&M, Forever 21, and Zara. Although not yet a household name in the states, Uniqlo has opened stores in major U.S cities spanning coast to coast. Their first and largest U.S flagship store can be found on 34th St. in Manhattan, New York City. The 64,000 square foot front features 3 floors stocked with the brand’s best line-ups for men, women and kids.

Due to the success of the first collection during the 2017 Fall/Winter, both fashion juggernauts are returning for a 2018 Spring/Summer collaboration.

Known for its easy basics, bold and quality material, Uniqlo and J.W Anderson are a perfect match. Commenting on their collaborations, Anderson states “the first UNIQLO and JW ANDERSON collaboration was super exciting for me, and I am very happy with the results. I am proud of it and I think the pieces are incredibly well made. The line was also a good bridge between the ideal of British classicism and my own brand,” he added. “The 2018 spring/summer collection is about items that interlink with each other. It's about layering this time. The idea is to mix and match things together, and I truly hope everyone will enjoy it.”

Be sure to keep an eye out for the collection early next year with sales from their SS17 collab going on now at uniqlo.com.
